The Inchwormship: GrowTorah’s Summer Internship
Overview: GrowTorah Summer Interns will help further our mission and deepen our impact through a variety of projects. You will have the opportunity to develop your educational skills by learning from and shadowing professional Jewish educators of GrowTorah at our partner schools. You will boost our garden production so that we can donate more food to local food pantries, adapt our curriculum to better meet the needs of our partner schools this fall, attend workshops/field trips with some of our partner organizations, including Yiddish Farm, Pardess Chabad Farm, OU Impact Accelerator, and Closter Farm, help us build gardens at new partner schools, write divrei Torah about environmental stewardship, work on our organizational data base and more! As a small nonprofit, we pride ourselves on multidisciplinary learning and collaboration, and encourage our Inchworms to learn new professional skills in their time with us.
Who: Young Jewish college students who are passionate about Jewish education and/or the environment, ages 18-25. (Both Orthodox and other denominations are represented among our partner organizations. Applicants from all Jewish communities are welcome and encouraged to apply.)
Where: Bergen County, NJ, NYC, Westchester, and field trips to farms within a 100 mile radius of our schools
When: June 4, 2025 - August 1, 2025
Commitment: Monday -Thursday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Compensation: Inchworms will serve as seasonal employees of GrowTorah, compensated at $20/hr.

TEACHING & PLANNING
Work with other inchworms and staff to further develop curricular materials for Shorashim Program, Anafim Program, Camp GrowTorah, and more!
Support GrowTorah in the continual development of values-based programming for all ages and demographics, including camps, families, and adults.
Garden planning
Shadow Full Time GrowTorah Team in educational gardens

Maintenance
Composting
TEAMWORK, COMMUNICATION, AND OUTREACH
Maintain effective and respectful communication with GrowTorah staff (and partner organizations’ staff when applicable).
Participate in Inchworm staff meetings and professional development work.
Participate in GrowTorah events and community outreach efforts.
Develop meaningful relationships with other Inchworms and GrowTorah staff.
TECH & MARKETING:
Assist in the development of social media campaigns.
Work on GrowTorah website via Squarespace.
Ability to:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to:
